Cleanliness Impaired Harry & Politically Correctness

People have lost their sense of humour. In former times we constantly made jokes about different races. You can only tell them today with one hand over your mouth or you will be insulted as a racist

I find that ridiculous. In those earlier days every friendly clique had a ‘Sam the Jew’ or ‘Jose the Mexican’ – but we didn’t think anything of it or have a racist thought. It was just normal that we made jokes based on our nationality or ethnicity. That was never a problem. I don’t want to be politically correct

We’re all spending too much time and energy trying to be politically correct about everything

It’s Back!!!

From everything I’ve seen, it looks like the era of big government spending is back

Nowhere Near A Bottom

We witnessed the collapse of the financial system

It was placed on life support, and it’s still on life support

There’s no sign that we are anywhere near a bottom

Dodd Is Concerned

I don’t welcome that at all, but I could see how it’s possible it may happen

I’m concerned that we may end up having to do that, at least for a short time

Too bad he and his counterparts didn’t show this much concern while they were helping us get into this mess in the first place.

This measure is not bipartisan. It contains much that is not stimulative

Realistically, No

Yesterday, President Obama claimed that Jim Owens, the CEO of Caterpillar, Inc., said “if Congress passes our plan, this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off.”

Today, Owens was asked if the stimulus package would be able to stop the 22,000 layoffs at his company.

I think realistically no

The truth is we’re going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again

Vice President Who?

You know, I don’t remember exactly what Joe was referring to, not surprisingly

I think what Joe may have been suggesting, although I wouldn’t ascribe any numerical percentage to any of this, is that given the magnitude of the challenges that we have, any single thing that we do is going to be part of the solution, not all of the solution
