The man who thinks there are two Americas is worried about the man who might live in Never-Never Land. Is he kidding?

“To get real change, we need a president who will stand up against the big corporations and powerful interests that control Washington. Nobody who takes their money and defends the broken system is going to bring change”

“And unfortunately, nobody who thinks we can just sit down and talk them into compromise is going to bring change either”

I think in times of international crisis — which this clearly is — what America needs to be doing and serious presidential candidates need to be doing is providing an atmosphere of strength and calm. We need to be a calming influence and not stoking the fire and certainly not be talking about the politics of this”

Harry Reid, then:

I believe myself that the secretary of state, secretary of defense and — you have to make your own decisions as to what the president knows — that this war is lost and the surge is not accomplishing anything as indicated by the extreme violence in Iraq

Harry Reid, now:

We sent other troops over there, and there are a lot of reasons the surge certainly hasn’t hurt. It’s helped. I recognize that

“There are those who say it’s not his time, that he should wait his turn. Think about where you’d be in your life if you’d waited when people told you to”

“I’m sick of politics as usual”

During a County Commission work session on Tuesday, Carroll County Commissioner Bill Head said that the county needed more jail space because “f all the criminals moving in from Atlanta, and all the wetbacks coming up from down south.”

He said his comments were aimed specifically at illegal immigrants. Should he apologize?

“Wetbacks can come from anywhere”

“They can come from Cuba; they can from any of the (Caribbean) islands; they can come from Mexico. Anyone is a wetback if they’re illegal”

“I am very forward in what I think and what I say, and I will not back up one bit”

Bill Head served in World War II and received the Purple Heart and the Presidential Citation for his service at Iwo Jima.

On a side note, in 1954, President Eisenhower launched Operation Wetback specifically to remove illegal immigrants from within our borders.
